Oldest business in NE Michigan
Our fifth-generation owned family store is the longest-running business in Northeast Michigan. Our historic building was built in 1870 and originally served as a rooming house for travelers and a saloon. Purchased by Albert Male in 1906, it was converted to Male‘s Grocery during prohibition and has remained a family grocery since. Run by Albert‘s son Tom Male, then Tom’s son Howard Male, then Howard’s son Glenn Male, it’s now owned by Howard’s grandaughter Jane Male.
